I graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. In 2013, I was appointed as Associate Professor (English) at the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Hacettepe University, and in February 2021, I was promoted to the position of Professor at the same clinic, where I continue to work.
In 2008, I started the PhD program in Anatomy at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Hacettepe University. I passed the doctoral qualifying exam in 2011 and earned the MD-PhD title. In 2010, I worked as an observer at MD Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on urological cancers.
In 2014, I conducted studies in Functional Urology, male and female incontinence, and neuro-urology at the Department of Urology, Leuven University, Belgium. Between 2021 and 2022, I worked as a visiting faculty member for six months at the Department of Functional/Robotic and Reconstructive Urology, KU Leuven University, Faculty of Medicine, where I gained experience in robotic prostatectomy, robotic cystectomy, robotic reconstructive surgery, AMS 800 artificial urinary sphincter surgery, ALTIS non-catheter urinary incontinence surgery for women, sacral neuromodulation (MRI-compatible), and advanced sling surgery for male urinary incontinence.
I am currently still working as a visiting faculty member on joint projects. In 2022, I received certifications in Robotic Surgery Basic Course from one of Europe's major robotic surgery training centers, as well as in robotic female urinary sphincter surgery at the University of Rennes in France.
Between 2016 and 2018, I served as the project coordinator for the MedTRain3DModsim project, a European Union project accepted by the National Agency of Turkey.
Since 2021, I have been the project coordinator for another European Union project, EuroSOMT (eurosomt.com), on behalf of Hacettepe University. From 2014 to 2017, I served as the Director of the Hacettepe University Advanced Health Technologies Application, Education, and Research Center (Hacettepe STEM).
Since 2018, I have been the Director of the International Continence Society (ICS) Institute School of Modern Technology. Additionally, I hold the position of Director at the Health Innovation and Simulation Education, Application, and Research Center (SİNERG) at Lokman Hekim University. Here, I manage two laboratories: 3D Modeling, Medical Printing, and Simulation Lab, and Surgical Anatomy Dissection Lab. My recent research has focused on virtual urological surgical models, 3D medical printing, surgical planning with virtual and augmented reality, and health technologies.
I have served as the Editor for two academic publications titled Digital Age in Urological Surgery published by Springer, one of the most prestigious publishers in the world. I hold two patents and I am the designer of 23 separate models to be used in urological surgical education with 3D medical printing and virtual reality applications.
I am the first person in my country to initiate preoperative organ modeling, patient education with 3D medical printing, and 3D surgical planning for patients with complex anatomy in urology. I have also published academic works on these topics. Additionally, I serve as a consultant for MedicaUROSİM, Turkey's first entirely domestic endoscopic urology simulator.
